Formed in 2002 as Sky Pharmaceuticals (Zambia) Limited, it has grown tremendously from being a humble farmhouse office in Lilayi to a modern operation, with a warehouse in the light industrial area of Lusaka. Augusta Pharmaceuticals specializes in the supply of pharmaceutical drugs, medical devices, medical equipment, and other medical consumables.

The job's objectives:

In order to analyze and negotiate access deals to potential treatment candidates and technology across many therapeutic areas, the Business Development Manager role discovers opportunities, creates and leads deal and diligence teams, and leads deal and diligence teams.

Marketing Team, Regulatory team

Legal & Compliance team,  Logistics,

Finance & Accounts Team, Country Marketing & Sales team, Medical team, Product packaging Team

Essential Experience:

At least 2 years of experience in business development or transactional experience with a record of accomplishment in leading and successfully completing complex or high-impact transactions in life sciences, diagnostics, data sciences, or personalized health care

Proven ability to build and lead teams, drive business decisions, and manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment

Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, medical device, technology, diagnostic discovery, development, and commercialization processes with the ability to effectively collaborate with R&D leadership

Good business instincts with fluency in business analytics and valuation methodologies.

Skillful presenter of scientific and business information to executives

Proficient in usage of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software; other software (photo, video, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

Strictly, an Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacist or biomedical, i.e. an MBA, or equivalent combination of scientific and business education/experience is helpful, such as strategy consulting experience.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Tasks:

1. Research & Development Strategy and Market Analysis

Closely collaborating with R&D and Global Product Strategy leaders to define areas of interest and to develop and execute the partnering strategy for those areas.

Evaluating full country therapeutic portfolio and find new products for each possible area

Researching scientific site, articles and finding new possible usage area for exciting products

Sourcing new therapeutic opportunities that align and challenge technology or therapeutic area strategies, including preparing in-depth opportunity landscapes, attending scientific and partnering conferences, and networking with biotech’s, venture capitalists, life sciences incubators and academia.

Driving decision-making and the deal process and making presentations and recommendations to senior management.

Leading scientific and strategic assessments and cross-functional due diligence reviews.

Developing and recommending deal structures and financial terms, and leading negotiations of term sheets and contracts with potential partners in collaboration with a deal team.

2. Coordination for Regulatory compliance

Understand regulatory requirements for the products and work closely with the Regulatory team.

Coordinates with internal stakeholders and business partners to meet the dossier requirements, GMP assessment and country specific registration requirements.

3. Cross  Team Functional Coordination

Work with internal stakeholders and business partners for Country specific requirements, finance team, logistic, packaging etc.

In close coordination with internal stakeholders and manufacturers administer the NDAs, commercial supply agreements, contract development agreements to meet requirements and to safeguard the interest of the organization.
